Howdy All! A gorgeous day to be out! Yes, I took this morning off work, too. <grin> And no, I don't normally work my sacred, birding weekends either. I walked from my house (after adding birds #73 and #74 to my yard list--Yellow-bellied Sapsucker and Yellow-rumped Warlber) over to Greenwell St Pk, here in St Marys County. Best find of the day was an adult male Connecticut Warbler at Greenwell St Pk this morning (10/3) around 10:15am. It was found just north of the intersection of the Red and Yellow trails. That is, the very SE corner of the cornfield on the right side of the Red Trail. It's a tiny ravine filled with thick brambles, briers, and brushy undergrowth. Opposite the small gully (to the South) is a small stand of mixed Loblolly and Red Pine through which the Red Trail runs. Also in the same area was a beautiful adult male Nashville Warbler. I kicked up a small covey of Bobwhites (6) along the Gray Trail (access trail), and I counted 4 Sharpies and 1 Merlin, 8 Turkey Vultures, 1 Red-tailed Hawk, and 3 Osprey this morning, too. The Orange Trail was quiet with only a few migrant Flickers and a single Phoebe. No shrikes or Dickcissels...yet. <grin> -Greg Miller Hollywood, MD ===== __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Bid and sell for free at http://auctions.yahoo.com
