A great showing of visiting Baltimore Countians rounded out this morning field trip to 30 particpants. We toured the Howard Consevancy property (Mount Pleasant) in Woodstock. The day was beautiful and the birds co-operative. The skies were busy with OSPREY, SHARPIE, COOPERS, RED-TAILS, KESTERAL and a fly-by MERLIN. 6 species of woodpeckers were Tallied with a lovely flyover PILEATED as our first bird of the day. A SAPSUCKER was a first fall sighting for many. To everyones delight and surprise a *MARSH WREN* was discovered and had the good grace to flush into an area that the entire group could veiw him from. Although the farm is not the best of warbler spots, we did find some nice species. After a bit of discussion on an all "yellow" warbler we came to the conclusion we had a female WILSONS, also NASHVILLE, MAGNOLIA, BLACK-THROATED GREEN, PALM and YELLOWTHROAT. Of course the crowning moment was the discovery of 7(yes SEVEN) LINCOLNS SPARROWS. I believe that everyone on the trip saw at least some part of one of those LINCOLNS to a ID-able degree. We did have a smattering of others....CHIPPING, FIELD, SAVANNAH, SWAMP, and WHITE-THROATS were also present. The big push is yet to come!! Bonnie Ott (Howard County bird club)
