The Kelp Gull continues at the Sea Breeze Restaurant in Sandgates, St. Mary's County, Maryland, and was seen daily by either birders or reliable restaurant staff daily during the week September 26-October 3. The gull now stays for many hours each day, and is even sometimes present at at first light. The gull is showing definitely flecking on its head (first commented on by Jon Benedetti of West Virginia on September 24). The trailing edge is still ragged and primaries are still missing, but the other features (single mirror on outermost primary, greenish-yellow legs, very dark mantle, clear light yellow iris with bright orange orbital, and red gonys (with red wash on upper mandible) are still all consistent.
