Hi folks, The banding at Jug Bay was pretty rained out today, but in the 1.5 rounds we did have about 25 birds, notably a couple Gray-cheeks and 3 Black-throated Blue Warblers. The last week or so has seen the Myrtles begin the expected takeover as others are being seen/netted in decreasing numbers. We saw (but didn't catch) a couple western Palms. Yesterday I had an embarrassingly hard time id'ing a bird about 5 feet off the ground. Hmm. Rufous patch in the wings, long tail, Flycatching. Big white spots in the _very_ long tail. Duh. YB Cuckoo. such an easy bird, so common. But I am used to fleeting glimpses high over hear. Not hawking insects 5 feet off the ground, then perching for 5 minutes in front of the visitor center window! Such a neat sight. WARNING: Non-Maryland information to follow WARNING Tomorrow I plan to hit the delaware shore. Anyone like to accompany me? I can drive, or you can. Long day, starting early (if weather allows) call me. 410-286-3569 Carlie Muise ===== ****************************** Charlie Muise, Naturalist Jug Bay Wetlands sanctuary Next to the Beautiful Chesapeake Bay Maryland, USA cmmbirds@yahoo.com ****************************** __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
