Layhill Park Evening (6:30pm) Clear 55 Found an immature SORA at Layhill Park last night. It seemed unconcerned with our presence and appeared to be settling down for the night. It was pulling loose reeds around as if making a nest. Then an unleashed dog ran in between us and the bird and proceeded to lift his leg on the reeds. At that point, my wife snatched the dog by his collar and ushered him toward his owner. By then the bird was acutely aware of us and every movement and promptly disappeared into the reeds. Nothing else noteworthy last night, but my wife found several Blue Headed Vireos yesterday morning at Layhill. A brief exploration of the park this morning revealed no Sora.
