Hi, folks,

This is not directly MD-related, but I think it augments
Greg's report fairly well, and helps us to see what is
going on to the north (kinda like seeing what weather is to
the west helps us predict/understand?)

I just returned from the lower tier, east rim of the
Poconos (Pike County). 2 years ago when PA had a major
crossbill and siskin invasion, this location had lots of
both, including a flock of 50 RECR that remained until the
end of May! Last year, there were very few RBNU's, and no
crossbills or siskins in the county (I was compiler, and
noone reported a single individual to me).

I was back at this location the last 3 days, and the RBNU's
are like House Sparrows at the local GOlden Arches. One
flew into me when I walked past the feeder - traffic
control couldn't handle them, I guess.

And I had 7 siskins at the feeder - earliest date on record
at this location in at least 10 years, and it is very
heavily birded.

I anxiously await their continued flight south!

Charlie
