At lunch today, it became quite obvious that the weather front of the last couple of days had helped a bunch of birds leave, and another bunch arrive. Gone are most of the early warblers, and present are blackbirds and sparrows. Here's my list for what was around Constitution Gardens and the DC Veteran's Memorial: Ruby-crowned Kinglet (several) Golden-crowned Kinglet (1) Yellow-rumped Warblers (several) Palm Warbler (1) Blackpoll Warbler (3-4, there were dozens earlier in the week) Wood Thrush (1) White-throated Sparrow (many) Song Sparrow (1) Eastern Phoebe (a few, many less than earlier in the week) Northern Flicker (1) Blue Jay (many) Brown-headed Cowbird (several flocks, several hundred altogether) Also Carolina Chickadees, Tufted Titmice and a Downy Woodpecker.
