Hi folks, Mike Quinlan tried for Saw Whets last night - all night long, in fact. He was rewarded with 2. Of the 4 we've had this year, 3 have been during the 9PM net round. The previous several nights we had 4 hourly rounds: 7, 8, 9 and 10. I mistakenly posted that we did 3 rounds/night. We're adding another net today to bring us up to 6 total. Danny and I heard (Danny ID'd) several Pine Siskins fly over the farm end this morning about 8 AM. Good numbers in the nets today. About 70 birds in the first 3 rounds, including 3 Yellow Palm Warblers, and our 4th or 5th Lincolns Sparrow of the year. In other Calvert news there has been a Coot hanging around the route 261 bridge next across from the library - hanging with all the feral geese and mallards. Danny reported that there were several Pectorals and Dunlin at the county line mudflat yesterday. Have a good weekend!
