Hi All: NW winds about 15 knots this am, variably cloudy, 9:30-11:45. Some spectacular close looks at adult Red-shouldered Hawks ( 10 ), Sharpies continuing to come through ( 19 ), Coops ( 1 ), a lone Kestrel,( 5) Bald Eagles in a wide assortment of ages,( 2) Northern Harrier, (6) Red-tailed Hawks and 13 TV. Observers: Parke John, Scott and Lousie Crabtree, Charlie Gant, Leslie and Harry Fisher and quite a bunch of interested hikers/campers. Others: Scott Crabtree called a flock of at least 50 BRANT winging their way over headed southeast, quite low and great looks. Rapid wing beat, black head, neck and throat to the belly, pale underparts, shorter necked appearance than Canada Goose. A county bird for me, great call. Marcia Whitmyre had a single Brant at Bethel WMA in the spring I believe; quite a sighting to have this many flying over. Also this morning Pine Siskin and i believe Purple Finch from the hollow "tick " call notes that were heard; we were trying to ID a raptor at the time they passed over and did not get on them. A beautiful palette of colours from an adult Bluebird perched in the scarlet leaves of a dogwood eating the fruit. **Louise Crabtree** should probably get a medal for bringing homemade apple cake for all to share.
