Loon chasers, No sign of Waldo yet. Waldo? Large rafts of loons on the Patuxent today with as many as 118 at the Sea Breeze and another 55 at Greenwell. So lots of loons to sort through, but no likely suspects yet as of 10:45am. Oh, we did refind the Common Loon with the yellow bill, too. The loons are actively feeding, so I have not lost hope yet. There were a couple dozen birders at the Sea Breeze this morning. I just got a call from Patty Craig (rented a boat from Solomons and birded the river up past the Sea Breeze). 150+ loons but no YBLO yet. 2 White-winged Scoters flew in, visible from Greenwell and I buzzed over to my yard to tick #93 for the yard list this year (I'm pathetic, I know). I'm taking a break for a while and heading over to Talbot for the Sandhill Crane. I probably won't be back til after dark, so someone else might want to pick up the posting of the Sandgates Loon. So many birds, so little time! :-) -- Greg Miller Hollywood, Maryland, USA Home- gregorym@erols.com or hawk-owl@yahoo.com WWW- http://www.erols.com/gregorym
