Phi,

    Undoubtedly unfair. I myself have been guilty of the same though at some
point somewhere sometime, if not with birding equipment then music
equipment.  I have usually tried to placate my guilty consceince by  buying
something of lesser expense.  There are times too when one is not really
intent on buying anything just looking around to see whats new.
        Recently I would love to check out a pair of the new Swarovskis 8.5
x 42 (44?) . I do not plan on buying a pair though. Just would like to see
what they are like.
