Hi Folks!

I visited Assateague I. and other areas Friday 11/26,  Somerset & Worcester 
Saturday 11/27 with Matt Hafner & Kevin Fehskens, and then birded my way home 
Sunday 11/28. Here are some highlights and lowlights:

Red-throated Loon: 8 at Nanticoke, Wicomico Co. 11/28.

Pacific Loon: previously reported, 11/28 at Romancoke, Queen Anne's Co.

Northern Gannet: lots at Assateague & Ocean City, including birds feeding 
inside the inlet on Saturday. Two over Tangier Sound seen from Chance, 
Somerset Co. 11/27. Two in the mouth of the Nanticoke R., Wicomico Co. 11/28.

Brown Pelican: 5 at Assateague 11/26, 10 at Ocean City Inlet 11/27, and one 
over Tangier Sound, seen from Chance near Deal I. WMA on 11/27.

Great Cormorant: 1 imm. in Ocean City Inlet, 11/27.

Ross's Goose: 2 adults at Snow Hill in the Snow Goose Flock at the 
intersection of Rt. 12 and Nassawango Rd. This is the traditional location.

Lesser Yellowlegs: 3 along Rumbley Pt. Rd., Somerset Co. 11/27.

Least Sandpiper:  30 along Rumbley Pt. Rd., Somerset Co. 11/27.

Short-eared Owl: 2 along Rumbley Pt. Rd, near Irish Grove of Friday evening, 
12 at Deal I. WMA Saturday evening.

Saw-whet Owls: No pellets or whitewash on Assateague or at Adkins Arboretum, 
Caroline.
However 2 Great Horned Owls seen on Assateague and 1 Barred Owl at the Adkins 
Arboretum. 

Sedge Wren: 3 on Rail Trail at Irish Grove 11/27.

Vesper Sparrow: 3 at Vessey's Orchard, Somerset Co. 11/27.

Boat-tailed Grackle: 1 male at Deal I. WMA 11/27.

Winter Finches: NONE during 5 hours on Assateague Friday morning [actually, 
no finches of any kind]. 1 Pine Siskin at Irish Grove 11/28. 2 Purple Finches 
at Schumacker Pond, Salisbury 11/28.

There were a few butterflies, including Monarch, Common Buckeye, Orange 
Sulphur and Cloudless Sulphur.

Hoping that the cold front brings in some birds,
