We went out to Lily Pons area Monday and looked for the Loggerhead, but no luck -- it was pretty cool and breezy so I am not sure if the bird would have been perched out in an exposed area, anyway. We also checked out the spot where an adult Loggerhead was reported last week (Elmer School Rd.) and although it looks very good habitat, again we dipped out! These two reports are hopeful as it may mean that the species is hanging on in the region (which encompasses Lucketts area in VA, as well). Gail Mackiernan and Barry Cooper
