DC AUDUBON's scheduled trip to Riverbend County Park Saturday Dec. 4
was enjoyable: warm weather, shade-grown coffee, the six expected
woodpeckers all nicely seen. Best bird was an adult LESSER BLACK-BACKED
GULL spotted by leader Peter Vankevich. It was on a rock about 300
meters downstream from the Visitors Center (in Maryland waters of
course) next to a GBBG, and affording good contrasting views with the
latter species (itself said to be uncommon that far up-river) and with
Herring and Ring-Billed Gulls, all in small numbers.
