Hi All, I spent most of yesterday (Saturday 12/11) birding in Garrett County. The small group of Tundra Swans that I saw a couple of weeks ago at Piney Reservoir appear to still be around. They were at the reservoir yesterday. In Pleasant Valley (south of Oakland, East of Rt 219), I had a dark morph male RLHA (Rough Legged Hawk) hovering over some fields as I drove along next to some plowed fields on Pleasant Valley Road just before it turns sharply West and eventually turns into Jasper Riley Road. My attention was diverted from the dirt fields by a dark bird that was flapping and hovering. I didn't find any Pipits or other good field birds in the area on Saturday. If that wasn't enough, after checking Deep Creek Lake and Herrington Manor SP for waterfowl and other stuff, I found another RLHA at Cranesville Swamp while parked at the little church east of Cranesville Road. This one was a light morph (probably a female). About 12 Hooded Mergs at Herrington Manor, a bunch of Mallards and little else. I found nothing but Canada Geese, Hooded Mergs, Ruddy Ducks, Mallards, and Coots at Deep Creek (checking Beckmans Penninsula, Silver Tree Inn and Harvey's Penninsula). Good Birding, J.B. ====================================================== ___ _________/ \_________ Home (304) 292-5072 /- - - - - O O - - - - -\ Work (304) 293-4832 \________'\_v_/`________/ ext. 4456 /_|_|_\ ^ ^ John B.
