On Sunday, 8-9 AM, Toni and I saw a Swainson's Thrush at Brookside Gardens, Wheaton. Although we had only two brief views, the bird was clearly not a Hermit Thrush: no hint of reddish color anywhere, esp. the tail, weaker breast markings than Hermit or Wood Thrush. This bird had a distinct yellowish cast around the face and upper throat, typical of Swainson's. Also at Brookside: beautiful view of a Red-shouldered Hawk (perched near the top of a big tree for some time), two Yellow-bellied Sapsuckers, and a Fox Sparrow. All of the above, along with lots of more common birds, were in the wooded azelea garden on the hill between the greenhouses and the new visitor's center.
