I just spoke to a friend at work, who has had a male Rose-breasted Grosbeak
coming to her feeder for the past 6 weeks. She saw it as recently as this
morning (12/23/99). Sometime ago, she even caught it, as it was drunk on
poke berries!! And my wife wants me to cut the ones growing in our front
yard, even if they are an unsightly mess! Never.

The friend lives in the West Friendship area of Howard County. If anyone is
interested in more details, they can email me privately at
Mhoff36100@aol.com. Possibly a good January bird Marshall??

Being a male we can rule-out the long-awaited twitchable Black-headed
Grosbeak. I'm sure everyone (well, at least me and a couple of my cronies)
drooled over the photo of the Black-headed that wintered in Cape May County
last year, in the pictorial highlights of the last North American Birds.
We're due!

Merry Christmas and Good CBCs to All,
