Hi MD Osprey,
I went with the Allegany County Bird Club this morning (Saturday
4/3) for our annual "Garrett County Ponds" field trip. The highlight
was seeing a spectacular 63 +/- Common Loons at Piney Reservoir. We saw
10 from the entrance to the reservoir and then 53 more further down. It
is possible that 3 of the 53 were visible from where we first stopped so
60 seems like a reasonable (and conservative) estimate. There were also
...
2 Common Goldeneye
7 Greater Scaup
3 Lesser Scaup
3 Bufflehead
a few Canada Geese and Mallards
1 Osprey
1 Brown Creeper
a few song sparrows and possibly a Fox Sparrow (heard singing briefly)

At Meadows Campground (still 4/3/2004)
4 Tundra Swans
20 Canada Geese
2 Common Loons
10 American Wigeon/Widgeon/Baldpate
1 male Flicker
several Robins and Grackles
