Rick has pointed out my, um, confusion. The bird I saw at Triadelphia
this afternoon was a Red-Necked Grebe.
It was elusive. I first saw it from Greenbridge at the boat ramp, looking
toward the dam. It was to the right. Long-necked grebe with big, honking
whitish cheeks, extending back and up. It then flew and landed in front of
dam. After fumbling with camera, unsucessfully, I lost it. Got back in
the car, went to the dam, and there it was, a short distance out from the
dam. While trying to locate it with the scope, in hopes of a picture, it
spooked and flew, heading back left and of sight. In the space of 15
minutes, this bird flew three times.
