This morning, while battling strong winds on the Patuxent, I noticed several Northern Gannets flying downriver from the Solomons Bridge. I pulled under the bridge and the first bird I saw was one of the Peregrine Falcons dropping down from a buttress. Scoping the river I counted 7 Northern Gannets having a blast in the high winds. They were ranging back and forth across the river into both St. Mary's and Calvert waters. They really seem to come out, in this area, in the high winds and not usually at any other time.
Nice way to start the day!
