Visited my atlas block this morning for the first time in about 6 weeks to
look for early migrants, late departers and for a preview of what I might
find later on.
Common Loon (1) flying overhead
Double-crested Cormorant (2) flying overhead
Great Blue Heron (5) 2 perched and 3 flying overhead together
Cooper's Hawk (2) 1 *on nest* and 1 flying overhead
Red-shouldered Hawk (1)
Ring-billed Gull (many)
Mourning Dove (2)
Belted Kingfisher (1)
Yellow-bellied Sapsucker (2)
Red-bellied Woodpecker (2)
Downy Woodpecker (4)
Hairy Woodpecker (1)
Eastern Phoebe (4)
American Crow (4)
Carolina Chickadee (4)
Brown Creeper (2)
Tufted Titmouse (1)
Carolina Wren (3)
Winter Wren (1)
Golden-crowned Kinglet (4)
Ruby-crowned Kinglet (4)
Hermit Thrush (4)
American Robin
Mockingbird (3)
Starling (many), squabbling around tree cavities
Palm Warbler (1)
Pine Warbler (1), not in pines
Northern Cardinal (8)
Eastern Towhee (2)
Song Sparrow (7)
Fox Sparrow (2)
White-throated Sparrow (5)
Junco (2)
Red-winged Blackbird (2)
Common Grackle (2)
American Goldfinch (3)

Sometimes I think what I don't see is as interesting as what I do. No WB
Nuthatches, Flickers, or Cowbirds and I looked. And I don't recall hearing
or seeing House Finches or sparrows but I can't say that I tried.
