Although Goldfinch are usually prevalent throughout the winter in lower Frederick, not this year! I saw about 5 in the tree-tops this morning. Also saw my first Brown Thrasher of the year. Hundreds of American Robins were in the fields and trees -- not the first for this year, but a new batch I think. Two Chipping Sparrows that are also probably new arrivals.

I have not checked the safe dates, but we had a threesome of Green Winged Teal on the pond near our house last week -- the Canada Geese are a "confirmed" (again) but the Teal seem to come-and-go. The Blue Birds seem to be trying hard (built a nest but no eggs). Tree Swallows are looking over the boxes, too.

Finally!
