Greetings,

Yesterday (4/10) I once again found myself out fishing the Susquehaana
Flats and once again I was pleaseantly surprised by a few chioce bird
sightings for Cecil County. Most notable was zero loons being seen by me.
Candi Lee, however, reported 28 on the North East River!

The first notable bird of the day for me was a lone Black-crowned Night-
Heron at Jackson's Marina on Hances Point on the North East River. Next I
was suprised to find 22 Tundra Swan flying along the Elk Neck Penninsula
just above the water (seems late for this?). My first Cecil Caspian Terns
showed up at Turkey Point as well as my first Cecil Barn Swallow.

Back on land I had Chipping Sparrows at my feeder and Brown Creeper in the
nearby tree. The Osprey/Eagle war on my property continues as the Eagle was
once again in the nest the other day to the dismay of the resident Ospreys!
The same day I saw the Ospreys copulating so I expect eggs soon. I would
imagine that the Ospreys will up the ante once the eggs are in the nest.
the Ospreys did permit the gorgeuos Adult Eagle to sit on the exposed mud
flats in my yard long enough for it to casually walk over to the water's
edge and grab a gizzard shad with its talons.

This morning I heard my first House Wren of the year in yard! -proof that
despite the weather spring is here.

Felizes Pasquas
and
Good birding,
Chris Starling
