Folks
A couple items forgotten this morning when I was catching up on the Big Charles County Year update.
On April 7 I had six Purple Finches in the back yard.
On April 8 I had six Blue-winged Teal at the Mattawoman Creek on Rt. 224.
On April 10 Gwen and I also had White-crowned Sparrow on Edgewater Road. That was the eleventh sparrow species for the day. Eleven is the most sparrow species I have had in one day ever in Charles. The list included:
1. Eastern Towhee - house and elsewhere
2. Chipping Sparrow - house
3. Field Sparrow - Allen's Fresh
4. Savannah Sparrow - Allen's Fresh
5. Fox Sparrow - house
6. Song Sparrow - Allen's Fresh and elsewhere
7. Lincoln's Sparrow - Allen's Fresh
8. Swamp Sparrow - Allen's Fresh (The Swamp Sparrow at the house was singing this AM.)
9. White-throated Sparrow - house and elsewhere
10. White-crowned Sparrow - Edgewater Road near Allen's Fresh
11. Dark-eyed Junco - house and elsewhere
I wondered what the state one day sparrow record is? Fifteen is possible. Eleven is likely the record for Charles Co., and we never got our target species - Vesper Sparrow.
Regards
George
