Folks

With the heavy rains yesterday and last night, I decided to go look for Glossy Ibis in wet fields. I did not find any ibis, but did find two Snowy Egrets (#139) and one Cattle Egret (#140) in a horse pasture along Allen's Fresh Rd. I was concerned about the Cattle Egret for the big year effort. I have not found one in about five years in the county. The breeding population is about 10% of what it use to be in Maryland, and that equates to less migrants. Yippee!

When I got back to the house I was greeted by a calling brown swallow - breet, breet. # 70 for the house year list - Northern Rough-winged Swallow.

Bad weather for humans often produces good birds for birders.

George
