Hi all yesterday Wed April 7, 04 after work i Deciced To make a quick
Check on Wye Island. Just before crossing the bridge there was a dead robin
in the road struck by a car . 3 TV 2 crows were trying to feed from this
smashed road kill a slim picking for all those hungry brids it made for
quite a sight. At the picnic area the Red Headed Woodpecker was there
first found in early Nov 2003 as an immature is now a full adult. i have
seen this bird every month since at least one time and sometimes more .
The bird was quickly located near a hole in a dead tree but showed no
signs of breeding and they are not in safe dates yet to even count as a
possible . But will be keeping a check on it. other birds seen on this
outting 2 Blue winged Teal males, several scaup species , About 12 Green
winged Teal , 8 Osprey 2 of which built a nest on a powerline pole
cross arm . Looks like a first time breeding try for this pair as
the nest is a messy looking shabby affiar looks like it could come
crashing down any minute. Happy Birding Danny Poet Queenstown Md
