A Capitol Hill neighbor -- a casual backyard birder -- reports sighting a lark bunting in her back yard. She describes this bird as 'black with white arc at wings.'
I've never seen a lark bunting. And I don't find any mention of lark bunting sighting in my MDOsprey e-mail files. Sibley says there are 'solitary vagrants (of this species) in eastern states'. What do the experts among you have to say -- could it have been a lark bunting? If not, what are other possibilities?
