I may have saw one.  I didn't get to look much in New Orleans.  We were in a
hurry to get as much done in as little time as possible and I was the only
birder in the group.  But I did see a black bird in the water diving for as
much as a minute at a time.  Could it have been one?  My Dad said it was an
American Coot, but I really didn't get a good look at it.

I am surprised that you didn't see any in Louisiana. I saw several on
Saturday diving in the Mississippi from the French Quarter in New Orleans.
