Hi Everyone,

A beautiful Rose-breasted Grosbeak in breeding plumage visited our hopper feeder at work in Nanjemoy today around 6pm. Hopefully this great looking bird will hang around for the next few days so the 5th grade students can spot it during our bird watching activity on Friday.

I also confirmed the third known Barn Owl nest in Charles County today. It is in the opposite side of the County from where the other two exist. The nest is not in one of our nest boxes but is on the floor of a cement bottomed silo. The nest consists of six eggs laying on what appears to be about a five or six shredded pellets and appears to be a brand new nest. What an exciting day!

Naturally,
Mike Callahan
