Pat, I second Maurice's recommendation.  Even if you don't get hearing aids,
though, you should check out any assistive listening device very carefully.
The clinic at GWU can test you for hearing aids (if you need them) and
recommend appropriate assistive listening devices, which you can try out.  I
tried Sonic Ear, but it didn't have the volume level I needed.  I finally
wound up with a system called Solaris, which I use WITH hearing aids, but
not for birding because those high sounds are beyond me.  If you want a
