On a quick jaunt this morning, I wandered down Eckard Rd. Near the end
closest to Bachman Valley road, where the road crosses the stream, I had 10
White-crowned Sparrows, a Brown Thrasher, and 2 male Hairy
Woodpeckers, along with the usual Red-wings, Robins, Starlings, House
Finches, Canada Geese, Mourning Doves and Mockingbird. At the other end, at
Fridinger Mill Rd., I had Ruby-crowned Kinglets, lots of Cardinals, a
Phoebe, several Yellow-rumped Warblers, an unknown accipiter flashing
through the trees, and a pair of Red-bellied Woodpeckers who were trying
(successfully) to get rid of a Starling which was trying to get into their
nest cavity. Then, back in my yard on Snydersburg Rd. I had flyover Barn
Swallows, many Yellow-rumped Warblers, 2 Ruby-crowned Kinglets, and a
little flock of Gnatcatchers. There are still White-throated sparrows at my
feeders with the Chippies, but the Juncoes are all gone I believe.
