Hi Folks,

Before the evening rain showers, I was able to hike around the three
western-most of the Halethorpe ponds in northern Anne Arundel Co. Some of
the sightings, all at Pond #3, unless otherwise noted:

GREAT BLUE HERON--pair circling overhead; Brian Sykes reports two sightings
of Great Blue Heron carrying sticks in this area. No nest has yet been
found
GREEN HERON--1
BLACK-CROWNED NIGHT HERON--two adults
WOOD DUCK--three pairs
OSPREY--pair over Patapsco River
BLUE-HEADED VIREO--1 seen at close range along RR tracks
PURPLE MARTIN--one male flying overhead
N. ROUGH-WINGED SWALLOW--4 over pond
N. PARULA--one singing
BALTIMORE ORIOLE--1 singing

I expect Prothonotarys to show up any day.

Stan Arnold
