Scarcely had the Scarlet Tanagers arrived (y'day in the Lanham area)
than, today, they were nest building. While the male watched
protectively, not uttering a sound, the female was on the ground
gathering a huge beakfull of grass. With a Yellow Book egg date of May
12, this seems awfully early.
