From lengthy personal experience, I can testify that BOTH flickers and
red-bellieds drum on houses. Our home is equipped with nice resonant metal
gutters, chimney caps, and flues, so each spring it sounds like there are
jackhammers on the roof. I have no solution to offer the suffering family --
just be grateful that Pileated Woodpeckers don't do this!
