Folks
While Mike Callahan and I were out checking barn owl boxes, I picked up Grasshopper Sparrow (#175) and Bobwhite Quail (#176) for the year in Charles County. A single Grasshopper Sparrows was singing along Penns Hill Road, and the Northern Bobwhite was calling from Dyer Road down near Cobb Island. I can go out almost any day of the year and find a Bald Eagle down here, but it took me four full months to find a Bobwhite. Something is wrong with that. Maybe the quail needs protection?
I also had my first Black Saddlebag for the year flying around the house. That's a dragonfly.
What will the birdathon bring tomorrow?
George
