Hi all,

Possible a first county record for this bird. Early
date was May 8th. Mississippi Kite was well describe
and seen in good view near the new impoundment along
Maple Dam Rd shortly after 1:15pm. In the distant, I
was seeing a falcon/harrier sp. until it flew over
woods edge near the impoundment. It has a falconlike
shape with more buoyant flight, short outermost
primary at tip, very dark gray from below including
tail, no patterns.

While it was soaring, it shows white head and white
secondaries in good light. It stay up in air for
about 3 minutes 35 seconds, then headed ENE.

I don't know whether it'll go to Caroline/Queen Anne's
border where a pair was reported there last year or
the year before. Few harriers was seen all over
Blackwater as well as kestrels in small numbers.
Sun was out for few seconds several times from noon
until 2pm.

Phil, is this information enough for you. If not reply
offlist, Thanks

I was the only Maryland birder all morning at
Blackwater. There are over dozens cars from VA and PA
this morning.

Full list to come up tomorrow.
