Hi fellow birders,

While running moving errands on my day off today, I cut through
Beltsville Agricultural Research Center (BARC) and came across a large
flock of Bobolinks along Beaver Dam Road near the water treatment
facility. They were very vocal and flew between a few large trees, fence
and the road. A couple appeared to be picking up grit from the road.
Some of the males were not in full breeding plumage yet and still brown
in the chest but had the yellow on the nape.

In the same vicinity was the singing Eastern Meadowlark. It may be the
same bird that was calling form the same spot two weeks ago.

What a bright colorful morning of birds on an otherwise dull and dingy
day!

Naturally,
Mike Callahan
