Hello
I went to Lake Elkhorn this morning at around 9:30 to do a little birding. The most numerous bird there today wasn't the Yellow-rumped Warblers, but all the swallows zooming and swooping around. I saw mostly Barn and Northern Rough-winged Swallows, Tree Swallows, and about 3 small swallows that I think were Bank Swallows. They just moved too quickly for me to see if they had the band on their chests, so I will not put Bank Swallow on my year list.
I also watched a female Belted Kingfisher sitting on a branch with a fish in it's beak, I saw an Eastern Bluebird couple, 1 female and 2 male Baltimore Orioles, a Green Heron, and some shorebirds at..., (what do you call that swampy place?). There was 1 Spotted Sandpiper and 5 smaller ones. My binoculars were not strong enough for me to really get a good look at them. But I have never seen any 'peeps' before so whatever they were, they were probably lifers.
And I saw at least 3 Red-shouldered Hawks too.
