Hello.

I did an informal "big day" in DC today. It took about ten hours and
included stops at the ridge in Rock Creek Park, Kenilworth Aquatic
Gardens, and Roosevelt Island. In all I saw 75 species, which seems
pretty good for DC, and three lifers (black-throated blue and blackpoll
warblers; solitary sandpiper). Here are the highlights.

Rock Creek Park:
Ruby-throated Hummingbird
Yellow-throated and Red-eyed Vireos
Warblers: Blue-winged, Northern Parula, Magnolia, Black-throated Blue,
Yellow-rumped, Black-throated Green, Blackburnian, Blackpoll,
Black-and-white, American Redstart, Ovenbird, Hooded
Scarlet Tanager
Indigo Bunting
Baltimore Oriole

By far the best area while I was at RCP was the tangle at the top of the
ravine on the far end of the Maintenance Yard.

KAG:
Bald Eagle
Solitary Sandpiper, Spotted Sandpiper
Great Crested Flycatcher, Eastern Kingbird
Tree Swallow, Northern Rough-winged Swallow, Barn Swallow
Cedar Waxwing
House Wren
White-eyed and Red-eyed Vireos
Warblers: Nashville, Yellow-rumped, Common Yellowthroat
Indigo Bunting

Roosevelt Island:
Northern Rough-winged Swallow (at the swamp), Barn Swallow
Cedar Waxwing
Red-eyed Vireo
Warblers: Northern Parula, Yellow-rumped, Black-and-white, Ovenbird

In addition, I had a possible Yellow-bellied Flycatcher towards the
north end of the wooded swamp on Roosevelt Island.
