Both yesterday and today between 1 and 2 p.m., a series of puddles just
west of the DC War Memorial attracted a succession of bathers. The largest
puddle hosted starlings, grackles, robins, jays, and a pair of mallards,
while the smaller and more hidden ones drew Brown Thrasher, Gray Catbird,
Swainson's Thrush, Yellow-Throated Vireo, Northern Waterthrush, Yellow-
Rumped Warbler, Song Sparrow, White-Throated Sparrow, and Goldfinch. Heard
nearby (but not seen) were Great Crested Flycatcher, Scarlet Tanager, Blue-
Headed Vireo, and Blackpoll Warbler.
