Bill,

We (Jim, Matt Hafner, Matt's significant other Kim, Mike Burchette and
myself) did indeed get out on Saturday. We had 2 Bay-breasts and a Least
Flycatcher near Taneytown. They were the birds of the day, although it was a
tough ballot between them and Catbirds. Otherwise, we had Black-throated
Blue, Black-throated Green, Blackpoll, Myrtle, Magnolia, Chestnut-sided,
Redstart, Kentucky, Ovenbird, Yellow and Yellowthroat. Missed Parula,
waterthrushes and Hooded, don't remember any chats. Residents were tough.
Had only a couple of Pewees. We got Vesper Sparrows West of Taneytown and
the other usual grassland suspects, nothing remarkable. We did have a couple
of catbirds. I think we had in the neighborhood of 115 species. Only one
Black-and-White all day, maybe 2 Redstarts. Did I mention we did get
Catbird? Had a few shorebirds of the 6 usual species. (Lesser, Greater,
Least, Spotted, Solitary and Killdeer). Nothing else special at New Windsor.
The ponds near Bullfrog were very good with over 100 shorebirds there
including Semi Plover and Dunlin, but wrong county (Frederick). Jim has the
sheet and will hopefully post the list.

Jim can indeed see the islands at Poplar from his home in North Beach. The
islands at Poplar are about 9 miles away. Perhaps someone with really
powerful eyes could scope the birds on the island from the boardwalk in
front of Jim's deck but we mortals can't.
