Between the heat & the lack of birds, rather a disappointing morning
atlasing. The two Honeygo Parks (Snyder Lane & Honeygo Blvd) have
sizable chunks of woodland but the woods are mazed with ORV trails and
littered from years of assorted appliance & auto dumping.
The BRIGHT SPOT of the morning: On the edge of an ORV "open desert", a
patch of PINK LADY'S SLIPPERS! which I have never before seen in Maryland.
The birds:
2 ovenbirds
wood thrush
red-eyed vireo
pileated woodpecker
red-bellied woodpecker
towhee
scarlet tanager |
