Although I missed this species here on Saturday's May count, I observed a
male this week on 4 of the last 5 evenings (May 9,10,12,and 13), singing
and displaying in the same spot by our house. I didn't notice him earlier
in the year, when woodcocks were singing and displaying over a wide area.
He must have a higher tolerance than I do for physically demanding activity
in the really warm and humid weather this week! I confirmed (FL) this
species breeding here (Atlas block 1455 - Bristol SW, Jug Bay area) last
year on June 20.
