Thanks to Paul O'Brien's 5:35 post, which I picked up 15 minutes later, I got
the Purple G.
Raced over there and found Dave Powell who had the bird two minutes before I
got out of my car. It then disappeared for 20-25 minutes before making a
short flight in the spatterdock about half way out to the closest new bird box.
There is strutted around, flipping his/her tail, perching on top of the leaves,
feeding a little, and giving us terrific scope views, probably 55 yards
away. Nice evening light too! The time was 6:25.
