Hello All,
Building Kills are a real issue that is killing 100s of millions of birds a
year needlessly. See article URL below.
When I worked downtown near Union Station in the Hall of the States in the
early 90s some days in the Fall I would come to work to find several dead
warblers and other species at the bottom of the building (almost EVERY DAY!
for a few weeks)..
I was so upset I went and talked to building management but they were not
able to do anything about it. The entire building had that reflective class
which made it aesthetically pleasing but a death trap to migrants.
In homes and some buildings you use a falcon silhouette that you commonly
see but I do not know of any organizations that are trying to encourage
prevention on a larger scale with skyscrapers?
I assume there are eco friendly architects that know about this. They ones
that do not do anything probably consider the fatalities analogous to road
kill and a shame that cannot be prevented.
Does any one have any thoughts or solutions?
Here is an article about it.
"Plate glass blamed for billion bird deaths a year"

If you can prevent "window kill or Building kill" at your house or office,
do it!
Warping a famous line "Only you can prevent window kills."
Thanks for your input and listening.
