A day of simple pleasures. Started at Sycamore Landing and hiked the
towpath to Horsepen Hiker-Biker. Then through the fields to the
impoundments and back along the northern wood edge to SL Road.
Ended up with about 53 species. Highlights were an adult Bald Eagle
hunting along the river and then feeding on a fish along the shoreline, a
hummingbird putting the finishing touches on a nest over the canal, a phoebe
calling at a traditional nest site where I hadn't heard any this year, 4
singing Warbling Vireos around the impoundments, 2 possible territorial
Veeries singing east of the normal nesting area, goods looks at a male
Cerulean Warbler in a new location for this year, a pair of Prothonotary
Warblers building a nest and a male singing at a new location, a singing
Hooded Warbler, and a female Baltimore Oriole gathering nest material.
