Blue Mash Nature Trail, Montgomery County, 15 May 04, 0700-0930

What a treat for the senses to be out and about in the field this morning.
Bird movement and song were everywhere and the sweet smell of wild roses
filled the air. It was nice to be back on the BMNT after a 8 day sojurn in
Texas combining business, pleasure and 2 life birds (Black-chinned
Hummingbird & Canyon Towhee).

Many small groups of Cedar Waxwing and Yellow Warbler a'singing were along
the BMNT this morning. An Osprey hovered over the pond inside the landfill
enclosure. Ready to deposit its eggs, a 12" Snapping Turtle was busy
excavating a hole on the margin of the trail adjacent to the outside pond.
Gray Catbird went from a few 2 weeks ago to invasive today. Five new
additions...

2-Yellow-billed Cuckoo
1-Great-creasted Flycatcher
3-Eastern Kingbird
2-Indigo Bunting
6-Orchard Oriole

....brings my BMNT list (since 8 Feb) to 99 species.
