Simone Jenion and I spent yesterday morning (May 30) covering several Atlas
blocks around the Deal Island WMA. Along the dike accessed from Riley
Roberts Road there was a full breeding plumage Black Tern feeding with
Forster's Terns.

Several hours of hiking from the "main" entrance of the WMA (the first
entrance off the Deal Island Road) along the dike to Riley Roberts Road
(several miles) resulted in NO Black-necked Stilts. We also found only one
pair of Saltmarsh Sharp-tailed Sparrows. We could have had hundreds of
sharp-tails if we identified them by song, but this would have been
cheating :) We also had one Common Moorhen calling.

The most ominous sighting was a pair of Mute Swans.
