For an update about Horseshoe Crabs on Delaware beaches, note that Baltimore
Bird Club's (BBC's) monthly lecture in September is "The Shorebird - Horseshoe
Crab Connection," by Gregory Breese, US Fish and Wildlife Service, Dover,
Delaware.

Breese is supervisor on the project monitoring and banding migrating
shorebirds on Delaware beaches, supervisor of the Delaware Bay Estuary Project.

Join us Tuesday, Sept. 7, 2004.

<<At the Milton Horseshoe Crab Festival, the DNR people with whom I spoke
said that this was the best spawning spring they have had in years and that bird
populations "seemed to be up". They were optomistic about the effects of the
Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission's ban on collecting HS Crabs in
May until June 7 and the limit placed on landings. Education is the ticket and
they performed a delightful skit from their DNR curriculum, "Green Eggs
 and Sand".
