Paul and I were able to see one Yellow-crowned Night Heron nestling*
clearly today, with movement suggesting a 2nd bird.

The most easily visible nest, furthest to the left, has a sitting bird on it.

The other nests are tougher to see; but there is still nest building
going on at one nest at least with one bird bringing in the twigs, and
the 2nd bird slowly placing them. On the right fork of the sycamore,
not easily visible, there is a nest somewhat rounder and deeper
than the others. This is the one with the nestling, first seen today.

Took today and tomorrow off. My yard work remains hampered by
complaining wildlife. The male cicadas object to my trimming the hedges.
Can no longer clean up under the Norway spruce due to the nesting
cardinals. The house wrens nesting on the porch object to my tidying
up the side yard; and today I could no longer tune out the often nosy
and often verbal catbird; and understood I was hearing real distress
only about the time I found its nest in the mock orange I was considering
cutting back. Oh well. . . Stuff to do inside the house.

Weatheredsville Road across from the Gwynns Falls/Leakin Park
Trail Head Parking Lot.
